Position Description

Job Description:

  • Responsible for credit assessment and monitoring of Loans, in compliance with internal credit policies and continuous evaluation to ensure its adherence.
  • Zonal credit manager is also responsible to lead a team of State Credit Managers across multiple locations.
  • Creating an environment that sustains and encourages high performance & motivating his / her team in optimizing their productivity, processing time and overall contribution to the business.
  • Conduct regular and detailed reviews to ensure that underwriting strategies and objectives are percolated down and implemented to the front line teams.
  • Understand competitive landscape, market dynamics and drive growth of the business in the region, through active support to Risk & Business


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Credit
 

  • Collaborate with the business team to achieve projected business targets. Lead a team of credit approvers to ensure building quality portfolio and manage delinquencies.
  • Manage end-to-end credit approval process within given Turnaround time (TAT) for the zone.
  • Develop, review and institutionalize credit appraisal process and policies
  • Engage in development, implementation, review and monitoring of various credit programs and providing training and coaching to continuously upgrade, the competency of the team members across levels.
  • Work closely with recoveries and analytics team to generate business insights.
  • Monitors and control the performance of loan portfolio especially key account loans.
  • Manage credit appraisal and allied costs within allocated budget for Zone.
    Submits monthly credit statistics and reports to National Head - Credit.
  • Maintain a proper, auditable document trail in the VFS IT System (Credit Module) for all credit decisions, starting from the application stage to approval or rejection stage, with a proper rationale and approval record for all decisions, including for exceptions, if any.
  • Adhere to a credit risk culture of an exceptional quality, in terms of established credit guidelines
  • Provide inputs for developing sound, acceptable credit policies, processes and procedures
  • Proactively endeavour to obtain additional credit information to support credit decisions at one go and avoid repeated to and fro with customers
  • Proactively communicate and provide MIS to Head Risk of VFS India.
  • Monitor and report all violations of credit policies to Head Risk of VFS India.
  • Implement and fully utilize the VFS management processes and tools

Leadership

  • This role is expected to measure the zone and department performance with appropriate metrics
  • Be a strategic advisor to the respective stakeholders in structuring the deal
  • Responsible for making sure that the credit risk policy is balanced and encourages sales and growth.
  • Responsible for considering a customer from both a sales perspective and a risk perspective and finding a way to harmonise both views. By approaching credit management with an integrated view of the customer, the company’s sales, marketing, risk and finance targets.
     

 
Education & Professional Experience
 

  • Chartered Accountant / M.B.A. (Finance) / ICWA / CFA / equivalent post graduate degree from a reputed Business School / University / Institute
  • 5-7 years’ of credit underwriting experience in an NBFC or retail bank is a must, of which minimum 3-4 years must be in the credit underwriting of Commercial Vehicles & Construction Equipment loans in India.
  • Sound knowledge of local market, industry trends in CV and CE industries and customer base.
  • Be a self-starter with a demonstrated track-record.
  • Willingness to work and adapt to a fast growing & changing environment.
  • Ability to work independently, learn quickly and be proactive.
  • Ability to perform and work well under pressure; good analytical & troubleshooting skills.
  • Must possess strong English communication skills – verbal and written. Knowledge of Hindi and at least one local language is required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint is an essential pre-requisite for this job.
