Vacancy For Bachelor’s (Accounting / Commerce / Finance)/CA/ CMA/CS/ACCA As Tax And Compliance Officer With Qatar Airways At Mumbai

An exciting opportunity to join the Qatar Airways Outstations Team in Mumbai. In this role you are responsible to manage and assist in the delivery of all operational and transactional matters to achieve tax & corporate compliance across QR network as part of our overall Global Compliance strategic objectives. Ensure full compliance with tax, corporate laws and other allied laws. Responsible for tax computations, filings, ensure correct monthly closing of Tax GL accounts, and achievement of targets as per the directives given by Global Compliance HQ and local Line Manager.

Key Accountabilities are

 

• Assisting in appointing tax advisor and statutory auditors for our branches in destination countries.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements of allocated jurisdictions.
• Liaising with tax consultant for computation of taxes the local legislature and ensure the payment of due taxes and filing of tax returns on the timely basis.
• Providing complete and accurate information to tax consultants for preparation of tax returns and timely filing with the tax authorities
• Review internal controls and implement the corrective action. Co-ordinate and ensure accruals accounting related to tax has been performed. Perform accounting related to tax and maintain accurate GL schedules.
• Diligently follow the Comprehensive Compliance Checklist for all applicable taxes to ensure tax payments and filing on timely basis.
• Identify the reason for Variances vs. Budget and control cost.
• Assist HO Tax Team and Local Line Manager in collating information related to internal and external audit in the destination countries.
• Follow up on all tax matters/issues, pending unfiled returns, any notices received from the authority, address them to resolve and close.
• Download monthly AP Invoice and Payment reports from Oracle
• Download monthly General Ledgers from Oracle for monthly tax filings.
• Download monthly bank statements from the share point for monthly VAT filings.
• Liaise with HO AR / SGS / Revenue Accounting for monthly sale and refund reports.
• Generate monthly AP invoices from Tax Bot to be provided to consultants for VAT / Witholding tax filings
• Post monthly JVs (e.g. tax provision, exchange fluctuation, accrual of consultancy cost etc);
• Post monthly VAT refund claims to Oracle.
• Identify un-reconciled credits / debits from the monthly bank reconciliation statements and pass the entries on Oracle.
• Maintain a tracker for contracts expiring / renewal and inform for starting the tendering / renewal process.
• Assist in raising the contracts in QCAS and follow up with Contracts Team for expediting the process.
• Maintain robust filing (hard copies) w.r.t QR internal memos, correspondences with GTA / GAC.
• Liaise for sending / receiving the hard copy of contracts for signing to QR Management  / Consultants / Auditors.
• Liaise with non-centralized stations for tax filing copies and save them on Server on a monthly basis.
• Assist in preparation of Branch Financials, Debit memos, HO cost allocations
• Preparation of monthly tax schedules / VAT ageing.
• Other duties as requested by the Management.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

• Relevant University qualification in Accounting / Commerce / Finance at minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent
• Preferred with a professional accounting certificate like CA/ICWA/CS/ACCA
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience in Big4 or large corporate with international tax exposure
  • • User level experience in any ERP
    • Command of English language
    • Proficient with spread sheets
    • Should be able to analyze and explain financial accounts/Management accounts to finance and non-finance audiences
    • Knowledge of Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Taxes, GST/VAT, Generally Accepted Accounting Standards/IndAS/International Financial Reporting Standards
