Asset Management Division (AMD) provides investment management services and offers investment products across all major asset classes to a diverse set of institutional and individual clients. Role Overview

GSAM Fixed Income, that sits within the overall Asset Management Division, is a global leader among Fixed Income managers and has been managing Fixed Income assets for more than 25 years. The Global Corporate Credit team is one of the largest teams in GSAM Fixed Income. The team helps investors to identify market inefficiencies and generate consistent risk-adjusted performance across the credit spectrum. Global Investment Grade Credit strategies employ a fundamental research-driven approach combined with top-down portfolio construction that is grounded in analysis and disciplined risk management. The team manages approximately ~US$200bn of Investment Grade Corporate bonds in dedicated as well as multi-strategy portfolios for a diverse client base.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

The portfolio construction specialist will be an integral part of the Investment Grade team. She / he / they will work closely with portfolio managers, traders, research analysts and other portfolio construction specialists in order to facilitate the ongoing construction of investment grade portfolios and contribute to achieving our clients’ goals.

Role Responsibilities:

• Work with portfolios managers to help implement current investment views across accounts with varying objectives and constraints
• Create and maintain a robust process to evaluate portfolio characteristics (e.g. beta, carry, curve positioning) and account consistency; perform analyses on trade-offs and make recommendations to portfolio managers
• Monitor portfolio attribution on a regular basis and do deep dives as needed
• Develop analytics and help to design new tools that support portfolio construction, including user testing of new tools and ensuring data integrity of existing tools
• Employ and further develop optimization processes to facilitate optimal portfolio construction
• Perform topical analyses as market and client opportunities arise
• Prepare materials for portfolio construction focused discussions

 

Qualifications and Preferred Skillset:

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required. CFA study or quantitative background preferred.
• Very strong quantitative and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Knowledge and understanding of Fixed Income and Credit markets
• Experience with or understanding of portfolio construction, trading or risk management techniques is preferred
• Highly motivated with the ability to work independently as well as thrive within a fast-paced team environment
• Curious individual with strong critical thinking skills who enjoys problem-solving
