Manage the equity portion of BAGIC portfolio (Rs.3000-5000 cr), using in-house research and achieve superior risk-adjusted returns as per the mandate while complying with regulatory guidelines. Incumbent will work with CIO for major investment decisions and with equity-dealer for day-to-day trade execution decisions.

Role:

 

Principal Accountabilities

Portfolio Management

• Manage the BAGIC equity portfolio as per Investment mandate
• Portfolio construction process to include analysis of stock fundamentals as well as Macro and Micro Indicators
• Review current market patterns to identify profitable investment opportunities
• Identify relative trading opportunities
• Assess the impact of regulatory changes/announcements
• Provide insights into economic trends and potential impact
• Outperform the benchmark returns, while managing risk
• Work with CIO to achieve the required profit/loss booking as per discussion with CEO and finance team

Research

• Work closely with the research team at BALIC and utilise their research capability to build the BAGIC equity portfolio
• Contribute to the research material for the Asset-Allocation Committee
• Regularly review the Asset-Allocation material and share views on equity weight in portfolio to both BAGIC and BALIC Investment teams

Risk Management

• Adhere to compliance with regulatory requirements of statutory bodies such as IRDA, SEBI, RBI and others, as well as with internal portfolio exposure limits
• Continuously review and anticipate market changes to manage risk levels of the investments
• Highlight early warning signals by analyzing operating and financial parameters
• Take responsibility for asset-liability management and regularly ensure the portfolio has enough liquidity to meet any unforeseen outflows

Functional Reviews

• Assist the CIO in making the Investment Committee presentation every quarter
• Timely intimation of any major developments in portfolio exposures and discussion of possible course of action

Maintain good relationships with Internal and external stake-holders

Internal Teams

Actuarial team - to understand the liability profile

Risk Management - to evaluate the underlined risk parameters of investments

MIS Mid-office and Back-office teams in Finance - to obtain information on key metrics

Compliance team - reporting as per required compliance guidelines

IT team - to maintain Investment software

External Contacts   

Sell-side brokers and Investment Bankers

Buy-side Portfolio Managers and Traders to share views etc.

Education/Qualification:

• Chartered Accountant (ICAI) / MBA (Finance) • CFA designation preferable

Desirable Skills:

• Minimum 10-12+ years of experience in the Equity market • Investment experience of Balanced Funds will be a plus
