CUSTOMS AND ADMINISTRATION LEAD

The Customs and Administration Lead is responsible for all areas of global trade compliance, including: AG and local customs projects, the daily clearances importation of vehicles, motorcycles, parts, and lifestyle goods; exportation of commodities; as well as, liaising with government authorities regarding import and export topics and audits. Additionally, this role will be assisting in corporate policy updates.

Description

  • Responsible for overseeing and monitoring the daily clearance and ensuring full compliance of Canadian customs legislation in order to minimize risk exposure to the BMW Group.
  • Lead contact for the customs related topics including department inquiries, AG initiatives and government compliance inquiries / audits. Responsible for liaising with external consultants and service providers including external trade chain partners.
  • Responsible for the execution of projects, process improvements, and ensuring accurate compliance in accordance with central compliance.
  • Responsible for reviewing and updating procedures and policies for the role including documentation of process maps and manuals for the department such as, import clearances processes, export declaration and reporting procedures.
  • Stays updated on customs regulations and potential impact on BMW Group Canada trade operations. Implements process changes and system updates to ensure full compliance of the trade regulatory framework.
  • Responsible for overseeing outbound traffic compliance procedures and ensure export control compliance protocols are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring duty accounts are up-to-date for month-end purposes.
  • Responsible for updating corporate policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Experience

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Customs / International Trade
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Designation
  • Minimum three years of customs / International Trade experience
  • SAP and account reconciliation experience is an asset
  • Attention to detail, multi-tasking and ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
