NWM Risk is a Quantitative Risk Management function focused on delivering analysis across all aspects of Market Risk: Risk appetite, Controls, Capital, Methodology and the associated Counterparty Credit Risks. The team offers several career paths within the function and team members have an agile skill set that includes understanding of derivatives, stresses, regulation, etc. These skills are utilized to deliver accurate metrics to the Front Office Business, Risk Managers and our regulators.

Your Responsibilities:

Manage relationships with various stakeholders including Operational Risk Teams, First Line teams, Ring-fenced bank Operational Risk teams and others as required across the bank to follow
Measurable progress (agreed, robust MI is in place) and quality assurance, oversights of Operational Risk Key Indicators & OR Handbook Compliance
Record management activities and Change Risk Review Oversight and related activities
Comply with Our Code, all RBS policies, How we manage RBS, and if applicable How we manage our Business, and deliver against all relevant statutory, regulatory, supervisory and legal obligations.
Proactive identification and effective management and/or escalation of conduct risk to deliver key customer outcomes

The Skills That You Need:

Ability to derive meaning from analysis and communicate to stakeholders including senior business audience. Numerate with proven analytical skills (including root cause analysis)
Analytical ability to critically assess business and technical controls for their effectiveness
Detailed understanding of risk management principles within a financial services firm. Having experience in operational risk management frameworks, methodologies, principles and processes and their application within a global financial services organisation
Ability to work with complex and confidential information; Skills in Microsoft products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Knowledge of regulatory requirements with respect to Operational Risk (e.g. Basel II and Sarbanes Oxley 404)
Professional qualifications such as IIA,IRM,PRM or FRM will be an added advantage; Graduate/Postgraduate with Working experience in a financial services organisation including core banking, financial markets, investment banking, sales and trading, risk management, payments, operations, technology and finance
Experience of the operational risks relevant to key business activities undertaken within a global financial services organisation including core banking, financial markets, investment banking, sales and trading, risk management, payments, operations, technology and finance
Knowledge of operational risk process design and their application within a global context; Demonstrate a strong track record of delivery across multiple businesses, involving complex stakeholder, process and technology issues
Ability to think strategically whilst delivering tactically within the strategic context, exercise sound and decisive judgement consistently; SharePoint development Skills, advanced Excel Skills, MS PowerPoint skills; VBA or Python knowledge will be an added advantage; Experience with data analysis software packages (specifically Orion, Qlikview or similar)
